It's World Wetlands Day and I'm celebrating by talking about Atlantic Canada's wetlands and some of the plant species that inhabit them!

Trout lilies (Erythronium americanum) decorate the forest floor in early spring before the deciduous trees leaf out.

Here in the Atlantic provinces, mayflowers are one of the first signs of spring. You can find them as early as April, growing alongside the snow.
